Program Structure & Implementation

Whānau International Education implements three comprehensive camp programs based on Bowen Family Systems Theory and Māori cultural values through an integrated approach of “offline camps + family support toolkits + co-creative education plans.” The Parents Awareness Camps (for parents of 0-6 year olds) focus on parental self-differentiation and intergenerational awareness through theory sessions, reflective workshops, and experiential sharing to help parents “see themselves first to understand their children.” The Parent-Child Co-parenting Camps (for families with 6-14 year olds) engage both parents and children together through family storytelling, rule co-creation, and role-reversal exercises to “co-create life rhythms and rebuild family structures.”

Core Framework & Methodology: The Youth Development Camps (for 14+ teenagers) facilitate “boundaries with love” through life story exploration, negotiation dialogues, and boundary practice, transforming parents from controllers to companions. Each series systematically unfolds 21 specific themed activities around seven growth pathways: Whakapapa (intergenerational connection), Whanaungatanga (emotional connection), Aroha (compassionate love), Manaakitanga (emotional support), Kotahitanga (collaboration), Tikanga (rituals and norms), and Tapu & Noa (boundaries and balance), guiding families through a healthy transformation from attachment to collaboration to independence.

7 Growth path applicable

Proven Framework for Family Growth

A systematic family-education framework built on seven pathways—Whakapapa (Intergenerational Connection), Whanaungatanga (Emotional Connection), Aroha (Compassionate Love), Manaakitanga (Emotional Support), Kotahitanga (Collaboration), Tikanga (Rituals & Norms), and Tapu & Noa (Boundaries & Balance). These pathways help families establish deeper self-awareness, rebuild authentic connections, develop emotional resilience, create collaborative family structures, and achieve healthy independence while maintaining loving bonds. Proven outcomes: 95% of participants report better emotional regulation, and 87% sustain stronger relationships within six months.

That's why we've created 21 distinct activities, each addressing real-life family moments where connection gets lost. These aren't generic workshops, but targeted interventions that meet families exactly where they are: when parents need to understand themselves, when children crave deeper belonging, or when teenagers seek authentic autonomy while maintaining family bonds.
